Full Story:Jadunath Sahu,a labor leader is hanged in December,1975 when the country is in a State of Emergency,with all political parties in the opposition under a ban. He leaves instructions that his eyes should be given to a worker who has never seen the world. Jethia,a powerful and influential jute mill owner,influences the Government to get the eyes for his son. But Ghanshyam,the hospital driver and few local workers demand that the eyes be given to Chhedilal,a blind worker. Dr. Mukherjee,before the operation,tries to trace the papers recording Jadunath's donation,the superintendent tells Dr. Mukherjee to carry out his duty as there are instructions from the highest quarters. Dr. Mukherjee sticks to his point and is prepared to face the consequences. Jethia,on coming to know that the eyes belonged to Jadunath,tells the superintendent to destroy them as he cannot bear the idea of the eyes surviving which contain the fighting spirit of the workers and the passion for revolution. Jadunath's widow and Ghanshyam organize a demonstration by workers .When obstructed by the police armed with shields and batons Jadunath's widow holds the blind Chhedilal's hands and takes the first step forward. The workers join in small bunches and follow them.
