Full Story:"GHARANA is a social-cum-family drama wherein the relationships within a family have been re- examined from the son and daughter-in-laws view point. Thus,the story is about a rich family consisting of a couple and their two young sons. The head of the family is a hen pecked husband; so obviously the lady of the house (Lalita Pawar) is the one wearing the 'pants.' The mother of the two sons' thus is over-bearing and runs the household under her command. Of the two sons,the elder,Kailash (Raj Kumar) is married to a nice homely girl while the younger; Kamal (Rajendra Kumar) is still in college. In college,the younger falls for a girl,Usha (Asha Parekh) and after some resistance the mother finally agrees to a marriage. The newly wed bride enters her home with dreams and hopes,but all her dreams are shattered and hopes displaced when the mother-in-law falls out with her. When the mother starts harassing Usha,Kamal puts his foot down. He decides to provoke his father into taking over the reigns of running the family and putting his mother in her place due to some intentional misunderstanding. Meanwhile Kailash falls out with his wife over some misunderstanding and walk out of the house. The complete family is now shattered. Does Kailash return back home?
