Shah Rukh Khan’s movie “Jawan” is doing really well at the box office in 2023. It’s close to beating the global record set by his other film “Pathaan.”

“Jawan” has already broken many records for Bollywood movies. It’s now on track to become the second-biggest Hindi movie ever in terms of global box office earnings. On a recent Wednesday, it made Rs 5.1 crore in India, which is Rs 20 lakh more than what it earned on Tuesday.

In India, “Jawan” has earned Rs 576 crore in total across all languages. It’s even beaten the previous record set by “Pathaan” a few months ago. This means Shah Rukh Khan has made over Rs 1000 crore from his movies in India in just one year, and both “Jawan” and “Pathaan” have been huge hits.

“Pathaan” ended its run in Indian theaters with Rs 543 crore, and “Jawan” is now on its way to earning even more, likely helped by a special buy-one-get-one-free promotion by Red Chillies.

Although “Jawan” might soon surpass “Pathaan” in terms of worldwide earnings, it won’t be able to beat “Dangal,” which made Rs 2000 crore worldwide. Most of “Dangal’s” earnings came from China, where “Jawan” didn’t release. “Jawan” is currently about Rs 28 crore away from beating “Pathaan’s” Rs 1050 crore worldwide earnings.

According to Sacnilk, on the 21st day of its release, the Hindi version of “Jawan” had a 14% occupancy rate in theaters, while the Tamil and Telugu versions had 21% and 16% occupancy, respectively, despite having limited showtimes.

Together, “Jawan” and “Pathaan” have made over Rs 2000 crore globally. This makes Shah Rukh Khan the only Bollywood actor to have two movies that grossed over $100 million in a single year. These films have also played a big part in bringing Bollywood back to life after more than two years of struggles due to the pandemic.

Another movie, “Gadar 2,” also did really well a few weeks before “Jawan” was released and has made over Rs 520 crore in India. Additionally, romantic movies like “Zara Hatke Zara Bachke,” “Satyaprem Ki Katha,” and “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani” also had good box office numbers.
