Shah Rukh Khan has had a fantastic year at the global box office, raking in more than Rs 2000 crore with his movies Jawan and Pathaan. These films have broken records and delighted audiences worldwide.

Jawan, directed by Atlee, had a great 22nd day at the box office, possibly due to a special promotion that encouraged people to buy one ticket and get another free. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, on Thursday, Jawan earned Rs 5.5 crore, surpassing its Tuesday and Wednesday earnings of Rs 4.9 crore and Rs 5.1 crore, respectively.

So far, Jawan has collected a total of Rs 581 crore domestically. It’s expected to cross the Rs 600 crore mark in India over the weekend. Remarkably, Jawan wasn’t affected by the release of new Hindi films this week, like Fukrey 3, which made over Rs 8 crore, or The Vaccine War, which earned Rs 1.3 crore on its opening day.

Jawan has shattered numerous records during its run in theaters. It set new records for the biggest opening day, opening weekend, and opening week for a Hindi movie. It also became the quickest Hindi film to reach Rs 100 crore, Rs 200 crore, Rs 300 crore, Rs 400 crore, and Rs 500 crore.

Having already surpassed Pathaan’s record of Rs 543 crore, it’s now the highest-grossing Bollywood movie ever in the domestic market and is poised to break the Rs 600 crore mark soon.

Globally, Jawan has accumulated Rs 1030 crore, just Rs 20 crore shy of surpassing Pathaan’s total worldwide earnings of Rs 1050 crore. However, it’s unlikely to surpass Dangal’s global earnings of Rs 2070 crore, mainly driven by its success in China.

Even though movies like Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, RRR, and KGF: Chapter 2 have outperformed Jawan at the global box office, Shah Rukh Khan stands out as the only star to deliver two $100 million-plus blockbusters in the same year.

Together, Jawan and Pathaan have contributed more than Rs 2000 crore to the global box office, marking a triumphant return for Bollywood after two challenging years due to the pandemic.

Other Hindi films that have performed well this year include Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, Satyaprem Ki Katha, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, and The Kerala Story.
