The Recruit Season 2 Release Date

The Recruit Season 2 Release Date: The Recruit is a thrilling spy and adventure TV series made by Alexi Hawley for Netflix. It’s about Owen Hendricks (played by Noah Centineo), a lawyer working for the CIA. Owen gets caught up in big global problems with dangerous groups when someone with valuable information tries to reveal their connection to the agency. The show premiered on Netflix on December 16, 2022, and in January 2023, it got the green light for a second season.

Noah Centineo and Netflix are like a perfect match, just like Netflix and chilling, which is what fans love doing while watching Noah. And now, there’s good news because he’s back on our screens as the main character in a new spy thriller called The Recruit.

You probably already know this because you’ve watched it all in one go, just like Noah’s other projects. Or maybe you’re here because you’re a fan of showrunner Alexi Hawley, who’s famous for creating hits like Castle and The Rookie.

Either way, you’re excited to find out what happens next to Owen Hendricks, especially after that ending in season one.

So, let’s dive into everything you need to know about season two of The Recruit on Netflix.

When Is the Recruit Season 2 Expected to Be Released?

In January 2023, Netflix decided to bring back The Recruit for a second season. The person behind the show, Alexi Hawley, who created it and runs the show, talked about how thrilled he was for the show’s comeback in an interview with Netflix’s TUDUM.

One of the key figures, Centineo, is set to return as one of the executive producers for The Recruit.

The reason for Season 2 getting the green light was its impressive performance in terms of viewership during its first week. A whopping 95.59 million hours of people’s time were spent watching it.

As for when Season 2 will hit our screens, that’s still up in the air. The writers’ strike by the Writer’s Guild of America recently ended, but there’s still an ongoing strike by the Screen Actors Guild. This means it might take a while before the cameras start rolling.

In April 2023, it was reported that filming for The Recruit Season 2 was initially planned for June 2023 but got pushed to August 2023. Unfortunately, due to the Hollywood actors’ strike beginning in July 2023, there’s no clear start date for production.

For Season 1, they filmed in Quebec, Canada, and Los Angeles, California, from October 2021 to March 2022. If they follow a similar timeline for Season 2, with filming starting in early 2024, it could wrap up around June. This suggests that The Recruit Season 2 might premiere in November or December 2024.

The show The Recruit relies heavily on the character of the recruit, played by Noah Centineo. For the upcoming second season, Noah Centineo is confirmed to return, ensuring the continuation of Owen Hendricks’ story.

However, there is some uncertainty regarding Laura Haddock’s character, Max Meladze, who was shot by Karolina, revealed to be her daughter, in the first season’s finale. While there are concerns about Haddock’s character surviving, even if she doesn’t, her presence is likely to have an impact on the show through flashbacks.

The Recruit Season 2 Release Date

In the last episode of season one, titled ‘WTFIOH’ (Who the F**k Is Owen Hendricks?), Owen witnesses Max being shot by Karolina, a Russian woman who may or may not be Max’s daughter.

But who is Karolina, really? Will Max survive the attack? And HTFDOHE? (How the F**k Does Owen Hendricks Escape?). These questions will likely be the main focus in The Recruit season two.

Recently, creator Alexi Hawley discussed this possibility with Collider. He shared, “I know things about where I would want to take it and where I’d want to go with it. I mean obviously, you hope for success, but as you could see with that ending, I didn’t plan for failure because I feel like in this day and age you just have to be bold, you have to be dramatic, to the expense of everything else.”

Hawley emphasized, “You can’t worry about season two, or season three, or beyond. You have to go, ‘What’s the best version of this story right now?’ And trust that people will come to it. And then you’ll get another shot at it.”

He elaborated on this in a conversation with Variety, saying, “You have to always try and make the most dramatic choice even if it’s hard, and even if it does leave you with a cliffhanger — even if it does turn the story 180 degrees. Yes, you can worry about what happens after, but at the same time, I think you have to be bold, especially in this day and age where there’s 9,000 shows.”

Regarding her reaction to the cliffhanger in the script, Haddock shared, “Do you remember when Ross in Friends saw Monica and Chandler snogging, and he was like, ‘No, no, no’? That was me in the apartment reading it. Got to the last page. ‘No!’ Threw it. Then I just left my apartment.”

As for the series’ low-key style, it is likely to remain the same. Noah Centineo commented on this, saying, “If we were trying to do Bourne [Identity], it would have been sick to have all those gadgets and gizmos. But we’re just doing a show about a kid that wants to be a lawyer that gets thrown into the world of espionage, and I loved it for what it was.”
